ABOUT US
Who We Are
We care about animals and the communities they live in.
Founded in 2017, Urban Tails began with a mission to rescue at-risk senior and special needs animals while raising awareness about animal welfare. Over the past eight years, we’ve achieved that mission and more, thanks to the support of our community.
Today, Urban Tails continues to rescue at-risk animals of all shapes and sizes, including dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, chickens and other farmed animals, providing sanctuary to a small group of farmed animals here in Ontario. While we still operate a low-volume rehoming program, supported by dedicated foster homes and our partner rescue network, we focus our operations on serving communities across Southern and Northern Ontario as well. We offer a range of services in our Community Program, including animal management planning and support, animal care assistance, a pet food and supply bank, access to veterinary care, and more.
We are supported by a dedicated volunteer team.
We are entirely volunteer based. Each member of our organization works full time in addition to the work we do for the animals. We really, really love animals.
We lead with compassion and empathy.
Our team leads with empathy in everything we do.
We believe understanding the unique needs of animals, people, and communities starts with a compassionate approach. Everyone’s story is different, and we’re here to listen. Whether we’re helping animals or the people who love them, our commitment is unwavering, no matter the situation.
And lastly, we believe the only lasting change we will make in the lives on animals starts within the community.
Our community programs are at the forefront of our operations.
By supporting communities and providing access to resources, we hope to empower pet owners and bring positive change.
